April is National Poetry Month! Because I love poetry, I’m participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month), an initiative that encourages people to write a poem a day for the month of April. You don’t need a blog to participate. Just a pen and paper and little spirit. Feel free to join me. Here’s my first installment.
Prayer for Knowing Your Calling
May you know what you are called to do on this earth.
When you know it, you are half way to peace.
When you engage it, you are halfway to heaven.
If you are not clear what your calling is,
find one piece of nature that you can see
every day, even if it the sky outside your window.
In fact, maybe it should be the sky outside your window.
Nothing changes so consistently as the sky.
Sooner or later there is bound to be a message,
something you can finally decipher.
If not, if nothing appears after a diligent period of sitting,
then go find someone to help, and help them.
If you still feel unsure,
then return to the window.
For now, let your calling be simply the sky.
