This morning when I looked out my window I saw three bright yellow goldfinches on my purple coneflowers. It was such a gift to be able to stay and watch them, and not have to rush anywhere. My time right now is invested is recovering my health. I allow as much love and beauty as possible into my life each day. I watched the goldfinches curve their small bodies over the drying globes, pecking seeds, chirping softly, until they all took flight, departing with their loopy signatures.
These are not the gifts I expected to have, but these are gifts I am being given.
A prayer of mine lately is “May I make decisions today that honor and protect my gifts.” Then I name my gifts. Today the goldfinches will be among them.
